EMU Once Again Ranked as the Top University in the TRNC by the QS World University Rankings

As the first university established in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) takes pride in maintaining its role as a trailblazer in the country. With its exceptional academic staff and strong research capacity, EMU continues to enhance its distinguished presence in various prominent global university rankings.

 

As announced at 02:01 a.m. on Thursday, 19 June 2025, EMU has once again secured its place as the leading university in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, ranking 691st among 1,500 universities from 105 countries in the QS World University Rankings. This achievement follows EMU’s strong entry into the rankings last year.

 

EMU marked a notable achievement by surpassing 54% of the universities featured in the ranking, securing the 9th position among the 28 universities from the Republic of Türkiye included in the list.

 

EMU Stood Out with the Citations Received for Its Scientific Publications

The 2025 QS World University Rankings, by the UK-based QS, were determined using data gathered in partnership with Elsevier, a global leader in analytics and information services. The results were based on an extensive analysis of 19.8 million academic papers and 200 million citations. EMU earned its highest scores in citations per faculty (23.5%), international student ratio (18.8%), and faculty internationalization (14.5%), securing a strong position in the rankings.

 

Recognized globally for its international profile, EMU secured the 13th position worldwide in the “International Student Diversity” category and ranked 19th in the “International Students” category in the 2026 QS World University Rankings.
