Physical Activity, Health and Sports Program (with Thesis) (M.S., 1 - 2 Years)

**: Indicated program admit only TRNC or international students.

The rationale for establishing the Master's Degree Programme in Physical Activity, Health and Sport is the widespread prevalence of diseases caused by physical inactivity and unhealthy diets, and the fact that these issues require a societal approach. The role of physical activity and healthy nutrition in preventing cardiometabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, as well as certain types of cancer, musculoskeletal disorders, and psychiatric disorders, has been scientifically proven. In this context, there is a need for interdisciplinary cooperation and scientific research aimed at increasing individuals' physical activity habits and promoting healthy eating habits.

The programme has been planned as “interdisciplinary” by the Faculty of Health Sciences, which includes programmes such as physiotherapy rehabilitation, nursing, nutrition and dietetics, paramedic, health management, exercise and sports sciences. Those who have graduated from these departments and are interested in this field can apply to the programme.

Candidates who complete this programme will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct in-depth research in areas such as exercise physiology, assessment and promotion of physical activity, prevention of diseases related to physical inactivity, and health promotion.

Admission Requirements

Prospective applicants are required to have a Bachelor's Degree for Master's programs and also meet departmental admission requirements.

The program is conducted in English. If a student does not have a valid English Proficiency Certificate accepted by EMU, their English level is determined through an exam administered by EMU. Based on the results, students are either required to enroll in the English Preparatory Program only, or they must take English support courses alongside their master’s degree courses.
