EMU 27th Spring Festival Feautres a Variety of Talk Events

Within the scope of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) 27th Spring Festival, organized with communication sponsorship of North Cyprus Turkcell and media sponsorship of NRG Creative, hosted a variety of thought-provoking conversations that illuminated various aspects of the cultural and artistic world. The sessions, which inspired attendees, explored diverse fields such as literature, film, music, performing arts, and philosophy.

 

“Takıntılar” Movie Screenings and Talk

The movie titled “Takıntılar”, directed by Yunus Nihat Özcan with cinematography by Aydın Sarıoğlu, was screened at the Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, followed by an interactive talk. Lead actors Zafer Algöz and Sarp Akkaya participated in the event as guest speakers. Audience members had the chance to engage with the actors directly, posing questions and discussing the film after the screening.

 

Talk with Müfit Can Saçıntı

A talk event featuring Müfit Can Saçıntı took place at the Activity Hall, attracting strong student interest. Recognized for his role as the “Mandıra Filozofu”, Saçıntı engaged the audience with reflections on eco-friendly living, societal norms of modern life, and the influence of humour. The session offered a mix of laughter and thoughtful insights.

 

Talk with Emir Can İğrek

Another engaging session at the Activity Hall featured beloved artist Emir Can İğrek, hosted by ultrAslan UNI Eastern Mediterranean. Led by moderator Harun Muslu, the conversation explored İğrek’s artistic journey, his bond with young audiences, and his enduring passion for Galatasaray. He spoke sincerely about the significance of being a Galatasaray fan in his life and how fan culture has shaped him. The event also included a surprise moment — a live video chat with Galatasaray legend Ümit Karan, adding a memorable touch to the session.

 

Talk with Doğukan Güngör

At Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, a talk was held featuring beloved young actor Doğukan Güngör from the TV series “Kızılcık Şerbeti”, organized by the EMU Fenerbahçe Fan Club. During the event, students had the opportunity to hear Güngör speak openly about his deep-rooted passion for Fenerbahçe, his journey in the acting industry, and meaningful memories he has gathered at a young age. The discussion included insights into life on set as well as unforgettable fan moments from the stands. The audience responded with high interest and excitement.

 

Ulus Baker Philosophy Talks: “Art and Philosophy Relation”

The “Ulus Baker Philosophy Talks”, held at the Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, featured a thought-provoking dialogue between Oğuz Haşlakoğlu and Emre Zeytinoğlu, focusing on the intersection of art and philosophy. Guided by moderator Prof. Dr. Ümit İnatçı, the session unfolded in a rich and intellectually engaging environment.

 

“Karakalem’den Ekrana” Talk with N. İpek Gökdel

During a talk held at the Activity Hall, author N. İpek Gökdel—the creative mind behind the inspiration for Netflix’s “The Protector”—discussed the journey of turning her written work into a screen production. The audience gained insight into how the story evolved from page to screen. Gökdel, who reached a broad readership with her “Karakalem” series and made meaningful contributions to Turkish fantasy literature, candidly spoke about her writing process and the adaptation of her novels into a television series.

 

Animal Rights Panel Held

EMU Faculty of Law hosted an animal rights panel titled “We Speak for Our Friends with Paws” moderated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazime Beysan which took place with the participation of Lawyer Nadir Bıldır, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ferhun Kahraman and Deniz Cin.

 

The discussions organized within the scope of EMU 27th Spring Festival provided attendees with motivating experiences and added artistic and cultural value to campus life.
