Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Communication participated in the 33rd International Council of Communication Faculty Deans Meeting (ILDEK) organized with the aim of strengthening the collaboration within the communication faculties as well as evaluating current academic developments.
Organized annually, this year’s ILDEK meeting was hosted by the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. The event brought together deans and vice deans from communication faculties of universities in Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Among the attendees was Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz, a leading scholar in communication sciences and the founding dean of EMU’s Faculty of Communication. During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Aziz offered reflections on the future of communication education and contributed meaningfully to the academic exchange of knowledge and experience.
Communication Education and Artificial Intelligence Discussed
EMU Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy also took part in the meeting, aiming to enhance collaboration among faculties and stay informed about recent developments in the communication field. The program featured a series of panels and workshops addressing key topics such as the academic and structural growth of communication faculties, accreditation processes, artificial intelligence and copyright, science communication, and emerging educational models. In this remarks following the the 33rd International Council of Communication Faculty Deans (ILDEK) Meeting, Prof. Dr. Ersoy underlined the value of scientific events in contributing to educational and curriculum advancement in communication. He particularly emphasized the importance of a cautious and well-planned approach to incorporating artificial intelligence into communication education and noted that the faculty intends to hold more academic events focused on AI in the near future.
